Summary:
An Israeli mother locks up her family members at home. Ruti is unable to deal with the stress and anxiousness she suffers from due to Israel's continuous tense situation. She decides to protect her family: a son, 19 year old soldier, a daughter, 15 year old teenager, and her husband. They all wake up to a locked house, disconnected from any means of communication. What will happen in the locked Jerusalem household throughout one weekend at the time of the Second Intifada? "Till when?", ask her surprised family members. "Till there is peace" comes the motherly instinct answer. "Present Continuous" is a contemporary representation of one Israeli family amidst the trials and tribulations of Israeli society in the last decade. The longing for peace in the region clashes with the need for security. Is Ruti acting insanely or is she the only reasonable person acting under insane circumstances?
